Congratulations everyone on completing the first block of this academic year, and we hope all of your exams went well!
This month we have a lot of exciting and important events coming up, as well as new opportunities to get involved with the community.

Building on the success of Mental Health Week last year, this year CIROS is collaborating with the BASIS care committee to take mental health awareness to the next level. We will be dedicating the whole month of November to addressing the themes of diversity incorporation; sexual harassment; social aspects such as loneliness and homesickness; study-related stress, as well as anxiety and depression.
âMental Health Month is a project created by students, for students. We recognize how difficult times at university can be and everything that comes with it, especially during corona times. This is why we aim to address mental health not only in regards to the academic, but also considering other aspects, recognizing the possibilities of cultural shock and loneliness when moving countries. We hope to bring awareness with our theme selection and events as well as inspiring motivation and furthering a sense of community.
Wherever you are in the world this year we will be bringing our events to you! Starting off by hosting a panel discussion discussing study-related stress with university internal and external advisors, we will also be giving out free fruit at Wijnhaven, offer the chance to meet new people online through ice breakers and coffee (or tea), are collaborating with the staff members to bring you an international student-friendly cookbook, hosting a grand charity lottery, and a corona-friendly movie night at Pathé! Keep an eye on our social media to check out more of our events!
We want to help your university experience be as fun as it can be! Canât wait for you to join us!â
- Kendra Parry, Head of the Student Support Committee
Starting today, we are also launching the sale of lottery tickets for the MHM Grand Lottery, the profits of which will be donated to support the Haagse Vrouwendag. There is a selection of prizes to be won, so if you would like to buy tickets, head to our web store.
â If you have any questions regarding MHM, you can contact the Student Support Committee here: studentsupport@cirosthehague.com

đ· New COVID-19 Measures
As the rate of COVID infections is still rising, the government has introduced further measures and a partial nationwide lockdown. An overview of all measures can be found here.
The most important changes since last month are:
Restaurants and bars are closed again, cafes may remain open for to-go drinks;
Most events are cancelled (there are some exceptions, such as theatres, cinemas and markets);
Groups of people remain limited to 4, and you may not have more than 3 visitors at home per day;
Masks are still not mandatory by the government but remain strongly advised in indoor areas.
đ The university has also introduced its own new measures, including mandatory wearing of masks in all university buildings, as well as opening up more study spaces for students.
â It is important to note that this remains a constantly developing situation and that these measures can change at any time. Please stay up to date on regulations set by the Dutch government, as well as by Leiden University.
đ± Office Hours
The Board is having office hours again! (Albeit in an online format, as our office space is still closed.)
We will be opening our Instagram to your questions on Tuesdays from 15:00-16:00 and Thursday from 13:00-14:-00, so feel free to ask any questions you have during these times, and we will be sure to answer them the best we can.
â If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out and contact me at info@cirosthehague.com, or tune in to our new office hours.
We look forward to hopefully seeing many of you at our events this month and, as always, hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy.
